7/2 - PGCBL week in review article 6/25-7/1:  Nice comments about Ryan

7/7 - Watertown Wizards @ Golden Eagles: Ryan pitched 1 scoreless innings to close the game.

7/12 - Golden Eagles @ Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs:  With the team winning by 1 run, Ryan pitched 2 scoreless innings when suddenly it happened.  Along came his first wild pitch which was soon followed by hitting his first collegiate batter.  After getting the 2nd out of his 3rd inning on the mound, his breaking ball didn't break which resulted in giving up his first collegiate homerun.  Suddenly the team was down by 1 run.  With 2 2/3 innings pitched he was awarded his 1st loss on the mound.

7/15 - Golden Eagles @ Newark Pilots:  Taking 3 online college classes while dealing with a heavily traveled week of baseball, Ryan took the mound to pitch the 6th inning.  The 1st inning went well, but coming out to pitch another inning he managed only 1 out.  Pitches weren't going as they should and a couple unlucky calls, 3 runs were soon scored before getting relieved.  Unfortunately it was enough to be the losing pitcher.

7/21 - Amsterdam Mohawks @ Golden Eagles: Ryan finally got another chance on the mound with much better results.  Winning 12-2, he was able to relax on the mound.  Striking out 2 batters, one of the players made an error which should have been the 3rd out.  This would result in 2 runners scoring, but they were both unearned and Ryan was able to improve on his ERA with his 1 inning pitched.

7/25 - Golden Eagles @ Cooperstown Hawkeyes:  Game was looking great in middle of the 8th inning with the Golden Eagles winning 13-1.  Going back out onto the field Golden Eagles starting pitcher went back to work apparently trying to pitch a complete game.  Then the game went someplace else as the Hawkeyes came out with 2 doubles and scoring a run.  The next batter got walked with 0 outs and the Eagle's coach made a pitching change.  The new pitcher started off walking the next batter and loaded the bases.  This was followed by a single and now the score is 13-3.  Things were still looking ok as the next batter popped up and now we had out 1.  Then came another hit scoring 2 runs (13-5) followed by a fielder's choice and we had out 2 with runners on the corners.  Followed by a single the Hawkeyes scored again now with runners on 1 & 2 (13-6).  Only needing an out to close out the inning, the coach brought another pitcher to the mound.  Unfortunately this wasn't his day and started with giving up a ground rule double and the score is now 13-7.  Runners on 2 & 3 a wild pitch allowed them to advance a base (13-8).  This was followed by another single (13-9) and a walked batter loaded the bases.  Another wild pitch allowed the runners once more to advance a base and scoring again (13-10).  Walking another batter, the bases are once more loaded and the coach decided to try another pitcher.  Out came Ryan taking his turn on the mound inheriting 3 runners and probably didn't have much time to warm up.  Walking his 1st batter in 6 pitches, another runner scored and the team's lead now dwindled to 13-11.  After the game Ryan swore he had this batter struck out, but didn't get the call.  He faired much better getting a fly out to right field.  Top of 9 the team scored a run giving a bit more breathing room. (14-11).  Back out on the mound it looked like Ryan was going to be in trouble walking the 1st batter, but this quickly changed with a fielder's choice for out 1.  Next batter grounded out for out 2.  Bringing some redemption for the previous inning, Ryan struck out the next batter for out 3 and earned his first save for the summer.

7/28 - Oneonta Outlaws @ Glens Falls Golden Eagles:  Starting pitcher Tayler Saucedo (Tacoma CC) did a great on the mound with 10 strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings pitched.  Ryan came out and pitched the 9th inning also doing a great job with 3 up and 3 down.  He came out throwing strikes and it only took about 8 pitches to close out the game with 1 fly out and 2 ground outs.

7/29 - Glens Falls Golden Eagles: With 2 outs in the 8th inning Ryan came in and got the out, but not before an inherited runner scored.  Coming back out in the 9th it was just wasn't his day get 1 out along with straight 2 walks before getting relieved.  The team did score a run in top of the 10th and held on for the win.

  Which one is better?

3 games left in the season - top 4 teams will play off for championship.

7/30 - Watertown Wizards @ Glens Falls Golden Eagles:  Starting out with a 3-1 lead through 7 innings over the Wizards, middle of 8 the score was tied.  Bottom of 8 and our bats came alive bringing in 2 runs for a 5-3 lead.  Ryan appears to have taken over the role as team closer, being sent to the mound.  Starting off behind in the count, he hung in there and battled.  Took 4 batters with 1 hit and 1 strikeout, once more he got the job done earning save 2.  With 2 more games in the season, this win put the Golden Eagles tied for 2nd and playoff bound.

7/31 - Glens Falls Golden Eagles @ Watertown Wizards:  Game was rained out and cancelled.  With the new standings posted, it's pretty sweet with our game cancelled and we move into 2nd place!

8/1 -  Oneonta Outlaws @ Glens Falls Golden Eagles:  How much more intense can it be.  Top of 9, 2 runs just came in making score 8-5, runners on 1st & 3rd with 2 outs.  Ryan gets sent to the mound and who wouldn't be nervous with the potential tying run at the plate.  Things got even more interesting when Ryan walked his 1st batter to load the bases, but he hung in there getting the next batter to ground out right back to him and throws the batter out at 1st.  This is the 3rd save of the season and helped his team secure the 2nd seed and home field advantage for the 1st round playoffs.

  Post Season

8/3 - Game 1 Newark Pilots @ Glens Falls Golden Eagles:  All the runs were scored in the first 3 innings.  Pilots racked up 5 runs and the Golden Eagles put together 6 runs.  After that is was close calls and the pitchers doing their job. - Ryan did not pitch.

8/4 - Glens Fall Golden Eagles @ Newark Pilots:  Golden Eagles came out quick in the top of 1 with first batter getting on base and the second batter hitting the long ball putting the team on the scoreboard.  Newark would follow this up with loading the bases in the 3rd inning and then getting a 3 base hit.  By the time 5 innings of play were completed the score was Newark 8 and Glens Falls 4.  Top of 6 we were able to load the bases and this was followed by another big blast bringing everyone in with a grand slam and tying the score at 8.  It wouldn't be until the 9th when Glens Falls hit another 2 run homer that would win the game. - Ryan did not pitch.

With back to back wins for Glens Falls, this moves them onto the Championship best of 3 games series.  Games will be 7-9 August.
